A number of questions came to mind re the new DRES regs that I felt clarification was required on. Andy Symons of the BMFA kindly supplied the following answers that may be useful to others.

1 :If members successfully complete the RCC will it be recorded against their profile and be visible to the club through the BMFA portal?
Yes as long as the member uploads it to the portal see https://rcc.bmfa.uk/caa-registration/add-your-rcc-to-your-achievement

      2. Have the BMFA negotiated an exemption from completing either the CAA on line test or the RCC for novices under tuition from a fully compliant instructor pending their taking the BPC/A certificate?

No exemption is needed if they are on a buddy lead as they are not considered to be either the operator or remote pilot. However once they are off the lead they will need to take the RCC/CAA online test. As soon as they are ready to come off the buddy lead and before they take either the ‘BPC’ or ‘A’ certificate test they must have passed one of the online tests, the aircraft of course still needs a valid Operator ID on it

3.Have the BMFA negotiated an exemption from completing either the CAA on line test or the RCC for someone having a ‘taster’ flight under tuition from a fully compliant instructor.
No exemption is needed if they are on a buddy lead as they are not considered to be either the operator or remote pilot

In the case of 2 and 3 above they must be on a buddy box – not sharing a Transmitter passed between them
